Xi'an is most famous for its long history and culture. If you want to explore China from the very roots upward, Xi'an will be the ideal beginning. In this tour, you can enjoy the greatest things in Xi'an as well as trace the roots of this great ancient civilisation.
You will see many places in the day.
The Terra Cotta Army and Horses museum
The Terra Cotta Army and Horses is one of the most spectacular things in Xi'an. One of its burial pits belongs to the mausoleum of the first emperor of the Qin dynasty, Qinshihuang.
You can not find a place anywhere else like this where so many soldiers have been standing here and waiting for you for such a long time. The museum has built several modern buildings which contain the original excavation work sites.
Three pits have been discovered, named in order of discovery (pit one, pit two and pit three). In pit one, you can see the main part of the army, although most part of the pit is still underground. In pit two and pit three, you can find the other parts of the whole underground army.
All of the Terra-cotta Warriors are believed to represent the real Qin army soldiers. Each one is different, having varied kinds of faces, expressions, and even hair and moustache styles. The works of Terra-cotta Warriors are nearly as tall as a real person, ranging from 1.78m to 1.97m tall, with different weights and sizes.
HuaQing hot spring museum
HuaQing hot spring museum is a park built on the original site of an ancient Chinese imperial Garden, at the foot of Mountain LiShan. The Garden was believed to be built in western Zhou dynasty, 2,500 years ago. Because of the hot spring, there are many emperors who have rebuilt this park in subsequent dynasties.
There are five bathing pools, which have been excavated by the algologists. The emperor and his concubine, the crown prince and the officers in the Tang dynasty used to take bath there with hot spring. There is a small garden inside where Chiang Kai-shek used to live and the Xi'an incident happened. From spring to autumn, the traditional building in the park and the sighting of the mountain back forms a beautiful picture.
BanPo village remains
BanPo village remains museum houses the site of an ancient village dating back to Neolithic Age. We've found a number of painted clay utensils and production tools in the village. These things as well as the original site reflect the life situations of people dating back to the Neolithic Age.
The village can be divided into three sections. The main section is for residential and storing millet and vegetables. The other two sections are for pottery making and burial.
Big wild goose pagoda
Big wild goose pagoda is one of two complete buildings still standing from the Tang dynasty, dating back 652 years. It is 64 metres (or seven storeys) high with a square base under the pagoda. The pagoda has been standing in an ancient temple (Da Cien Buddhist Temple) for more than 1300 years.
The Buddhism scriptures and the statues were taken from India to Xi'an, and have become part of Xi'an's precious heritage today, being preserved in the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. From the top of the pagoda, you can see the southern suburbs of Xi'an.
